New year, new me?

Yes, it’s that time of the year again when we all pretend this year is going to be THE YEAR. Let’s get over it right away. It’s also when all our resolutions show up and we decide that, from january the 1st, we’re all going to be a totally different person – as if we’re all Cinderellas and, a second after midnight, we’d be the person we wish we’d be, the person we’ve been dreaming of for a while now. We pretend and convince ourselves that from that day on, we’re a completely new person, with not so realistic changes in our lives or lifestyle. Did you know it takes 21 days to build a new habit? Are we really going to get used to a hundred new habits right on the first day of the year? Like it’s a new beginning? I think not. Life is constant changes, but slow ones, not miracle ones. I obviously also have resolutions that I want to accomplish, but I refuse to pretend I’m going to be and do amazing this year. I can only promise I’ll the best and do the best. There are a few things that I want to keep in mind. Not because it’s a new year – because every day is also a new day and you can always have your fresh start every day - but because from time to time we have to think and rethink if we’re going the right direction. Of course, a new year is a wakeup call for what we’ve all been doing with our lives and everyone realises another year has gone by. But the truth is, we’re here every day and we’re here every day to make and take the best out of this world. So, let’s go for it, because today is actually the day. Apologies, I honestly didn’t want nor expect the first post of the year to turn out this big but… congrats if you’ve made it till de end! Anyways, new year, not-so-new me.

Não me parece.

  1. Love the pink outfit and your hair! And I agree with you about the new year, new me phrase. It is unrealistic to think that we can be a completely different person once the new year starts.
